So we’ve just survived the longest night of the year , the winter solstice. If you are on mt kosciuszko right now, the sun went down at 4.59 pm yesterday and won;t be up until 7.19am today. That’s 14 hours and 20 minutes of night! And if you;re lucky enough to be at Ben Lomond resort in Tasmania, that’ll be an extra 30 minutes on top of that…Mind you, there’s almost half an hour of twilight either side of sunset and sunrise, so you won’t have been in darkness this whole time. From here, the days get longer, meaning each morning might be a little bit easier to get up.

If you have young kids and want to get them on the snow, I don’t think there’s a better place than Selwyn. It’s way cheaper than the other resorts, you can park right next to the lifts, and there’s terrain for all kinds of young beginner and junior intermediates. No, I’m not paid by Selwyn to say that, i’ve just had really good experiences there with friend’s kids in the past. Definitely worth checking out.

Anyway… the news gets better, as tonight we’re expecting more snow fall, that hopefully won’t let up until the middle of next week! So I’m feeling optimistic that proper winter is now here, and things will continue to ramp up at all resorts.

I’ll report back soon with more info , in the meantime follow the podcast to make sure you get regular updates. Thank you for listening, I’m Anthony Garvin, today is Thursday June 22 and this has been Daily Snow.
