A bit wet today, but that may turn to snow. Plus discover what I learnt about Charlotte Pass on Tuesdays.

:

Yesterday was a little miserable at the NSW resorts, with rain falling from just after lunchtime. It continued through the night, but it’s getting colder as I speak, so there’s a chance the rain will turn to snow later this morning. There won’t be much - but I would much rather a bit of snow than any rain!

We’re looking at moderate breezes with strong gale-y gusts today - that kinda sounds happy actually - so hopefully those gale-y gusts will be brief and won’t affect the lifts.

Up at Thredbo top station we’re looking at a max of 2 degrees and down in Perisher valley a max of 4, but it will feel below zero most of the day due to the wind and the wet. Charlotte pass will be similar to Perisher, with a maximum of a ‘cold’ 4 degrees.

Speaking of Charlotte Pass, I noticed yesterday that they do ‘two buck tuesdays’ . Basically, you pay $129 for a day pass on a tuesday, but a friend will only pay $2. It includes oversnow transport from Perisher, lift passes for both of you, as well as lunch at the local chinese up there… and I gotta say, there’s literally a local chinese everywhere in Australia! Anyway, framed a different way, that’s $65.50 each for a day of skiing and lunch. I haven’t skied there since I was a kid, and I can’t say there’s much in the way of advanced runs up there, but i figure it might be a fun way to spend a Tuesday as spring progresses? Let me know if you go.

If you’re heading up to the resorts today, the roads are clear but remember to carry those chains with you. Remember it’s wet, so take the driving easy, as you always should in mountains.

And tomorrow, there will be no rain. The sun might come out for a while, and it will be a little warmer. I’ll give you an update tomorrow as to how it’s looking.
