My shout out this morning goes to Queen Elizabeth the second. I can’t say I’m a monarchist, however I do think she worked rather tirelessly for a long, long time and wouldn’t have had much of a personal life the last 70 years. So i’ll take a moment to ponder that over our holiday today.
Moving onto the snow, and yesterday I snuck up there for the morning and had an awesome time at Perisher. There was so much snow, and not a single lift queue! It was definitely warm and the snow was sticky in parts - so groomed runs are the best, but there’s still plenty to choose from. It also did not rain whilst I was there , and in fact the predicted rain has still virtually held off. There was 1mm at Perisher late yesterday evening, and none yet at Thredbo top station.
Today there’s a good chance of rain, but it’s not certain - and the chances are lower in the morning, higher in the arvo - so I say get up there now if you’re thinking about it. Perisher Valley is going to hit a top of 8 degrees by the afternoon, Charlotte Pass 7, and Thredbo Top station 6. It’s Overcast all over the mountains and should be so all day - it’s also very foggy at perisher right this moment, but predicted to lift shortly. Winds should be virtually non existent down the bottom of the resorts, rising to perhaps a fresh Breeze at the highest areas.
